Microsoft reportedly wants to acquire GitHub

Microsoft has reportedly been in talks to acquire code repository GitHub, according to Business Insider. GitHub received a valuation of $2 billion following the closure of a $250 million funding round led by Sequoia Capital in 2015.

Conversations about a potential acquisition have taken place for years, but resumed in earnest in recent months during talks about a potential marketing partnership, sources familiar with the matter told Business Insider.
