The second-gen CZ Smart is a nice-looking smartwatch but so far has been plagued with laggy screens, poor battery life, and inaccurate health tracking.

Citizen is temporarily suspending sales of its second-gen CZ Smart watch due to a “technical issue.” The Wear OS watch, which launched in May, had a feature based on tech from IBM’s Watson and NASA to track a person’s alertness.

It appears the decision stems from negative experiences from reviewers. Michael Fisher — better known as MrMobile on YouTube — noted that Citizen said it would suspend sales after he had reached out to the company about the watch’s many issues. That was corroborated by a Wired story, in which reviewer Julian Chokkattu also detailed several bugs, like laggy screens, bad battery life, inaccurate tracking, and watchfaces that can’t even tell the correct time.

The platform will also take action against videos that discourage people from seeking professional medical treatment as it sets out its health policies going forward.

YouTube will remove content that promotes “cancer treatments proven to be harmful or ineffective” or which “discourages viewers from seeking professional medical treatment,” the video platform announced today. The enforcement comes as YouTube is attempting to streamline its medical moderation guidelines based on what it’s learned while attempting to tackle misinformation around topics like covid-19, vaccines, and reproductive health.

Going forward, Google’s video platform says it will apply its medical misinformation policies when there is a high public health risk, when there is publicly available guidance from health authorities, and when a topic is prone to misinformation. YouTube hopes that this policy framework will be flexible enough to cover a broad range of medical topics, while finding a balance between minimizing harm and allowing debate.

The global smartwatch market, which had shown consistent growth in recent years, experienced a decline in the first quarter of 2023. According to Counterpoint Research’s Global Smartwatch Model Tracker, smartwatch shipments slumped by 1.5% year-over-year in Q1 2023. The shipment slump can be attributed to reduced demand from major players such as Apple and Samsung.

One of the significant contributors to the decline in smartwatch shipments is Apple, the leading player in the smartwatch market. The company witnessed a notable decline of 20% in smartwatch shipments during Q1 2023 compared to the same period last year.

This decline resulted in Apple’s shipments falling below 10 million units for the first time in three years. As a result, Apple’s market share dropped from 32% to 26%. The reduced demand for Apple watches can be attributed to the global economic crisis.

Honda has unveiled the EM1 e: e-scooter in Europe. Announced last September, the new model will be the first two-wheeled EV from the brand to launch on the continent. The EM1, or Electric Moped 1, has a three-phase brushless in-wheel motor with 0.58 kW typical and 1.7 kW peak power. The engine has a top speed of 45 kph (~28 mph) and delivers up to 90 Nm of torque.

The EM1 e: uses the removable 50V Honda Mobile Power Pack e: providing up to 41.3 km (~25.7 miles) typical range or 48 km (~30 miles) range in ECON mode. The battery can be recharged up to 2,500 times, with a 2.7-hour charge taking the battery from 25 to 75%; a full recharge takes around six hours. LED lights indicate the battery charge level, and the scooter consumes 47 Wh/km (~76 Wh/mile). A digital dash shows information such as the remaining battery, and you can recharge your phone via a USB-A port.
